Purpose: To determine the type of bonding in some apart(p) philias using smallest number of raises.
Materials:
goggles
7 shield tubes
sample tube rack
experiment tube holder
conductivity apparatus
DI water
stir rods
scapulas
wellhead plate
Bunsen burner
dilute HCl
Beaker
plastic dud bottle
marking pen
7 unknown spirit
conductivity meter
Procedure: Step #1) Mark all seven test tubes from A through G.
Step #2) Place your first unknown message into the test tubes according to the letter that matches.
Step #3) Observe the physical air of the unknown substance. Record your observation.
Step #4) Set up the bunsen burner and sportsmanlike the bunsen burner.
Step #5) Adjust the flame so the hot spot, crystalise of inner blue c superstar, is visible.
Step #6) Bunsen burners hot spot reaches rough 800¢ªC. Grip the test tube with the test tube holder near the upper end of the test tube. Place the test tube on the tip of the hot spot in an angle and gently shake that test tube as it is being heated. Note: Never heat the bottom of the test tube and never point the open end of the test tube towards anybody.
Step #7) Observe and see if the substance melt. Record your observation.
Step #8) worthless some deionized water into a beaker whence place the substance into the beaker as well.
If the substance melted from the previous step, then reduce some more of the substance, and if not then use the one you got. Stir and observe if it forms aqueous solution. Record your observation.
Step #9) If it creates a solution, then check to see if it conducts electricity in solution with the conductivity meter. Record your observation.
Step #10) At this point, if you cant determine what kind of bond the substance has, then go...
